Résumé

With MCP, AI stops searching for information and starts ingesting the economy in real time. Data.gouv.fr paves the way: to exist tomorrow, companies will have to be natively readable by agents.

The end of search, the advent of flow

Until today, AI functioned like a super-documentalist: it browsed the web, read pages and tried to synthesize content thought up for humans. With the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, the visual interface is bypassed. The AI connects directly to the source.

The signal sent by Etalab is historic. By making SIRENE, DVF (real estate transactions), Cadastre, Base Adresse Nationale, INSEE demographic data and DPE directly readable by models, the State is transforming public data into a permanent ingestion flow. AI no longer reads a report on the economy, it feels the pulse of the market by directly interrogating registers. For the moment, it's reading. But it's already a major breakthrough.

It's no longer science fiction: today, an investor can ask his AI agent to audit the health of a geographical sector by cross-referencing real estate transactions and business start-ups in a matter of seconds, without ever opening a browser.

The AI is no longer a reader, it's an auditor

Until now, access to economic data followed a human path: you downloaded a CSV, cleaned up an Excel, produced a summary. With the MCP, we are entering the era of the agentization of the economy.

For the investor, it's the end of research time. The agent detects weak signals (atypical growth, management movements, series of delistings in a sector) by interrogating registers continuously. For the entrepreneur, it's a strategic GPS connected to real market flows. For the employee or consultant, it's a co-pilot capable of instantly interrogating the SIREN database to qualify a prospect, supplier or target.

Machines are becoming direct consumers of economic data. This evolution is not just about productivity gains - it profoundly reconfigures the way information circulates and creates value.

The phantom data trap

But this technological leap reveals a critical flaw that few organizations anticipated. In a world where AI agents decide, erroneous or poorly structured data becomes an immediate strategic liability.

If your information on public registers (data.gouv.fr, Infogreffe, INPI) is obsolete or poorly indexed, the AI agent advising an investment fund or potential partner will ignore you. Or worse: it will hallucinate on a phantom version of your company, reconstructed from outdated data.

What used to be an internal recommendation for data structuring is now becoming a condition for survival on the open market. The quality of the information you expose is no longer just a matter of administrative compliance, it's a factor of visibility and credibility in the agent economy.

From SEO to GEO: The new battle for visibility

We're leaving the era of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for that of GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). The challenge is no longer to please Google's algorithm to attract human clicks, but to make its organization digestible and intelligible to language models and their agents.

Your digital presence will no longer be measured by your website's traffic, but by the robustness of your GEO Profile. This profile is not just an enriched "About" page. It's a digital twin of your company, structured to be interpreted by automated systems, based on five pillars: a legal identity layer synchronized with state registries, an operational layer describing your actual markets and expertise, a public KPI layer chosen to feed sector analyses, a network layer mapping your relationships and your place in the value chain, and an authority layer exposing your publications and positions to be cited as primary sources by LLMs.

The State-as-a-Service: the trust buffer

The real breakthrough lies in the convergence between private data and public infrastructures. What will distinguish a high-performance GEO Profile from a simple self-declared database in the future is certification by State platforms.

In this new model, the State plays the role of a large-scale trusted third party. A GEO Profile becomes a weapon of conviction when it enables an AI to instantly verify your claims: the company claims to have 50 employees? The agent cross-checks with certified social data. Claiming 20% growth? The agent verifies via official account filings accessible in MCP.

For a company, aligning its GEO Profile with government standards is no longer a regulatory constraint, it's a sales pitch to the algorithms. Certified data becomes the anti-hallucination filter par excellence.

A collective responsibility

The data.gouv.fr initiative shows the way: data platforms are no longer dusty libraries, but critical service infrastructures. In an agent-driven economy, to be invisible or unreadable to AI is quite simply to cease to exist economically.

The MCP server revolution forces us to a form of radical honesty. In the age of GEO, you can no longer disguise your visibility with high-performance keywords or massive advertising campaigns. You are what your data says about you, and what state platforms are able to certify.

Your first shop window is no longer your website's homepage. It's your certified MCP connector. The responsibility is now collective: it's time for organizations to move from a communication strategy to an exposure strategy.
